5. How to request a record
Requests must be made on the prescribed Form 2 (available from the Information Regulator's website) and submitted to the Information Officer at the address above. Provide enough detail to identify the record and the form of access required.
6. Decision
We will respond within 30 days of receipt of a properly completed request, subject to any extension permitted by PAIA. Refusals will be motivated and will explain your right to appeal or apply to court.
7. Fees
A request fee and access fee may be payable in accordance with the regulations made under PAIA. Personal requesters are not required to pay the request fee.
8. Grounds for refusal
We may refuse access on the grounds set out in Chapter 4 of PAIA, including the protection of third-party privacy, commercial information, confidential information, legal privilege and the safety of individuals.
9. Remedies
If your request is refused you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za or apply to a competent court.
